Turtle Conservation with John Jeffers MBE

We work with GivingWay and there are large discounts for volunteers applying with Givingway:

For groups of 4 - 6 volunteers, there is also an option of renting a villa. This costs US$700 pw (for groups of 4, cost divided by 4) or US$750 pw (for groups of 6, cost divided by 6).  If individuals would like to stay in a villa, this may be possible depending on villa bookings and sharing with other volunteers.

We are also able to offer 4 day volunteer holidays to either learn about turtle conservation or help release hatchlings.  This costs US$350 which includes accommodation and breakfast and dinner.  This may be incorporated into a Montserrat or Antigua holiday.

We hope in future to link with turtle conservation groups in other countries and that volunteers, once trained, may be able to assist with these.

To get to Montserrat, you will currently have to travel via Antigua.  There are flights to Antigua (ANU) from most continents.  Virgin, British Airways and Thomas Cook are the main airlines from the UK, although Thomas Cook from UK operates only in winter.

From Antigua, you can either take the ferry (timetable information ont the The Tourist Board website at www.visitmontserrat.com).  The cost for the ferry is 150ec one way - no departure tax is payable if your stay in Antigua is under 24 hours, otherwise it is US$75.  Flights to Montserrat from Antigua are also available on Fly Montserrat or SVG.

We are happy to provide information on transport to Montserrat or help with any other queires you may have.  The best time to learn about turtle conservation is from the beginning of July to the end of September, and the hatchlings are released by hand from September through to the end of December.
